I am back from a fantastic buying trip in Tucson this year. It was warm, sunny and filled with family, friends, laughs and of course loads of gems! Such a great trip.

The sun was shining everyday and the sunsets in Arizona are hard to beat.

After long days of shopping, drinks outside by the fire were perfect.

Once my shopping was complete…

I had a couple days to enjoy the sunny Southwest.

Now I’m back and overflowing with inspiration and designs ideas. I dove right in and am in the very beginning of creating some new designs! Can’t wait to share! Geez, just look at those colors. Ahhhhh!

Off to Tucson

I’m headed for Tucson for gem shopping tomorrow! I’m so, so excited and will definitely be sharing photos of my finds here and on my Flickr page as soon as I can. And, remember, without upgraded shipping, made to order Valentine’s Day items won’t make it in time since I won’t be back until Feb 6th, so get in touch if you need to have something in time for the BIG day and haven’t placed your order yet…I’ll see what I can do!

I’ll leave you with a custom wedding band I made for a really special couple. So happy how it turned out. White Sapphires flush set in a 14k yellow gold brushed band…

A sweet chocolate diamond flush set in a hammered 14k gold band.

And, the middle ring below. It’s a 3mm Aquamarine set in a hand forged 14k gold setting and band. LOVE this ring. I’m so excited to get back from my trip all loaded up with stones and get working on some new designs. My head is about to explode. I love this time of year for that! It may be grey and cold, but my studio will be so colorful and full of inspiration in just one short week. Can’t wait to share!

New Work & New Books

It’s been a very typical spring around here lately. Here’s how it goes…I get too excited that the sun might make an appearance so I start planting my vegetable garden and thinking I might be able to sit out on the deck in the sun and start enjoying the changing weather…and then it rains and rains and rains some more. And, never gets above 50. Just like every other day in any other month in Seattle. Groundhogs Day. 50 and rainy every day of the year. I haven’t seen the sun for more than a couple minutes since I was in Mexico. Yes, I am complaining, but it’s just not right not having the sun shine in your life!

So, indoors it is. But, it leaves me time to dive into the new jewelry technique books I just got. I’ve thumbed through these before and decided it was time to have copies of my own. Sooooo happy I finally did it! Here’s what I got:

I’ve been back from my gem show trip to Tucson for a couple days and am still unpacking, organizing and trying to catch up. Needless to say, I’m a little behind on posting pictures of all my LOOT from the gem show. My new cabs are about all organized and I’ve been gazing at this a lot…trying to stay focused on my current orders, but these sure are tempting to get into. Can’t wait!!

A Cabin Getaway + Tools

My sweet husband and I took the dogs on a last minute cabin getaway this weekend to Lakedale Resort. There is just something about getting away even if it’s just a little ways away for a little amount of time. It was restorative. It was cozy and wonderful. It was just what I needed. There was a bit of this…

I spent a good amount of time last week tool shopping…I LOVE getting new tools! I have a bunch on their way (which I can’t wait to share with you!), but I did get a few things already…

These are the scariest of all. Wax carving tools. Of course, there are about 1 billion kind of tools for wax carving, but before I realize I suck at it, I thought I’d start small and just see if I like it. I’m so nervous to start! But, I really feel like it would be a very freeing addition to my work. It would open so many doors, design wise. I’m also going to be trying out some stone setting techniques. Flush setting is really on my mind. I can’t wait to get my new burs so I can try. I totally have ants in my pants to get going. I hope to show some fun things soon! Or, maybe funny…who knows : ). Wish me luck though…I think I’ll need it!

Feeling Fall

I am feeling lucky. Lucky that this fall here in Seattle has been quite beautiful so far. The sun has been shining for DAYS! I can actually see my long, long shadows. The yellow, orange and red leaves look so much prettier with sun shining on them and blue sky behind them. It’s making the transition to sweaters and socks (I hate socks) more bearable.

I finished up all of these pretty things today. I have yet to list the last 3. I will do that tomorrow. I promise. Until then…E

Green Moonstone Ring in Sterling Silver
A lovely, ethereal stone – sort of frosty, sort of icy, all pretty.

Garnet Studs in Sterling Silver
Simple and basic, but that color and that cut! – too pretty not to put in your ear.

Double Pear Hoops
A lovely silhouette. And on, they are stunning. Shiny, big, bold, yet sleek and modern.

Well, I’m back from Tucson and it was a great trip. I even got to sit in the sun! It was fantastic. However, trying to manage the gem show is nearly impossible , but I got a ton of new stones and met some new vendors that I’m so excited about. I uploaded a bunch of photos of my new gems to my flickr photostream, so check them out! Here’s a photo of the whole load for now!

I also have some new items that I had been working on before I left for Tucson that I finally finished up yesterday. I’ve only added the Smoky Quartz Ring to my Etsy shop (because I love it the most!), but I hope to get the rest up tonight or tomorrow. That’s all for now – just a quick little update…I’ll be back with more soon.

Noooo…you can’t eat these.

I just got LOADS of new insanely gorgeous stones! I honestly can hardly contain my excitement. Don’t they just look edible and incredibly tasty? You are looking at Smoky Quartz, Obsidian, Sunstone, Chalcedony, Crystal Quartz, Labradorite, Tourmalated Quartz, Rutilated Quartz, Amazonite, Star Quartz, Pyrite Quartz, Manifest Quartz, Amethyst, Moonstone, Charoite, Rhodonite, Aquamarine…the list goes on! Well, I will update you with my new creations soon. In the meantime, enjoy the pretty colors.
